Mouse cursor changing to black

[NoOp]

On this system I've recently had the mouse cursor changing to black vs
the standard human style white cursor. Oddly enough, the cursor will
change back to white all by itself.

I've googled for answers and found this bug:

and a few other references to this happening on some older systems. But
so far I've not been able to nail down what it causing it. Anyone else
dealt with the same/similar problem?
