Enabling desktop effects removes window titles

Just checked it out ...they fused beryl and Compiz (see Youtube clip)

Umm - didn't Compiz-Fusion take the place of Beryl? 

(No sarcasm - I'm really asking, I thought beryl was no longer supported
and it "fused" with Compiz, am I incorrect in this assumption that to
get desktop effects I am forever entangled with Compiz-Fusion?)
