Weird behaviour after enabling Desktop Effects

Hello all,

I bought a new compte (An HP DX2300 Desktop) and made a fresh install of he
Ubuntu Feisty system.

I now have a better Video card (although part of the motherboard) than I
used to.

I decided to give the Desktop Effects a go.

All works well - usually.

Some times, especially when a window is maximized, I am unable to close it:
I click the X on the top right, but nothing happens, exept the window
loosing it's focus... I have to click file and choose close / quit to close
it

I have Fiefox set to open external links in a new window. Sometimes, when I
click a link, the window ppens but the site doesn't come up and I have to
close the window and re-open it. It also happens if I confirm or deny a
cookie confirmation dialogue: the window stays empty, if I close it and
re-open it - it works fine...

Any ideas / pointers?
Thanks!
