Amarok/xine driver problems

I've since installed the xine-arts driver which took care of the xine driver 
error message. However, everytime I launch Amarok now, I receive a dialog box 
informing me that Amarok can't play Mp3 files. The same dbox offers a button 
for installing the mp3 support files, but nothing happens when I click on it.
