VMWare Server - Use Physical WinXP?

What is the performance of the virtualized Windows? If I'd do this on my 
next main machine with something like 2 gigs of ram or more - will I be 
able to run games from windows or will that be too heavy?

I'm in the unfortunate situation that I would like to migrate away from 
windows but am unable to do so because of the great games that aren't 
available for any other platform.
