ubuntu 7.10 gutsy on apple intel xserve

i actually installed ubuntu on a intel based imac and a powerpc g4, and both
worked, using feitsy and dapper in both, currently they're booting feitsy, i
downloaded the alternate cds for x86 and powerpc respectively, because
normal cds didn't work as you say.
