Synaptics is the easiest - just search & uninstall all openoffice that
you find. Afterwards, reinstall openoffice & ubuntu-desktop. If you'd
like to install the non-Ubuntu version follow the instructions here:

However, before you do either, what do you mean by borked? If you are
simply having odd problems post what the problems are & perhaps we can
help. It might be as simple as a configuration problem, or renaming your
./openoffice.org2 directory to something else so that OOo can rebuild a
new profile.
