No-op-
Thanks for the reply. I got Rythmbox working. I removed some applications
running in the background at startup. However, I still can't pidgin to
work. The buddy list pops up and indicates 'connecting' but then after a
few seconds it quits and disappears. This is an older Dell Inspiron 8200
laptop with 512 Ram. Could limited resources be the problem?
This is a production machine so I need to be careful that I don't render it
fubar and pidgin isn't a high priority. I installed Ayttm in the interim.
I'm a relative newbie so your patience is appreciated. I'm not sure I
undestand what will happen when I run apt-get -f install. I read the
terminal help and it says " -f Attempt to continue if the integrity check
fails". Does that mean it will try and fix any problems or conflicts it
discovers with the installation files? Also, when you say purge, would that
be in the form sudo apt-get purge pidgin ?
Thanks for the help.
