Recommendation: good file compare program ?

  I always seem forget apropos :)

  Oh, there's also 'whatis' but it returns only an exact command name
match in the same format as 'man -k' and 'apropos' (which seem to be
synonyms). Handy when you want a short description of a command not
easily searched eg ls, df, at, etc...
