keyboard key presses are not handled on time

I installed Ubtu 7.04 on my IBM Thinkpad R40e.

Keyboard requests are not andled propely as you can see from this
message. Often there is a delay twen the typing and seeing the letter on
the screen. What causes the problem? How can I fix it? (Stem -->
Preference is not the solution)

It is very annoying especially when one wants to write fast.
