As you see there is no way to create Fax-printer on Ubuntu Gnome
Desktop, most of post are from me. I think Gnome Desktop is not enough
mature to deploy on business environment, as KDE is. I think that I have
to switch to Kubuntu or use the KDE Print manager instead, try to
apt-get install Kprinter you well see what I am talking about. As I said
it's very pity because the rest of the desktop is very nice and funy but
not very useful for a company system remplacement for Wind Vista.

I installed lot of Hylafax server with BRI Eicon card, it's a very
stable and robust app and some company think to try Ubuntu because lot
of communication around the new Gutsy desktop (at least in France) but
at this time I can't advice Ubuntu desktop, perhaps if I replace the
Gnome printer manager with KDE Kprinter manager, I will do that when I
got more time...

No the Hylafax-client is the set of utilities to communicate with the
server but IN COMMAND LINE, this is not a GUI and there is no utility to
create a fax-printer with address book, queue manager, on this package.

It seems that in the 7.04 the Gnome printer manager had a work around to
send documents to an external app by redirect the queue but this feature
doesn't exist in Gutsy (see
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=320534&highlight=hylafax+fax
+printer)

Anyway thanks to all of you who reply to my posts.

Sam.
