Well, I don't think it is a problem with your 'set'  as they say in 
telly-land....

I get it here too and when I look at the page source, the very same characters 
are showing there too.

I tried to decipher what they are but can't    or what char set they come 
from.

I wouldn't worry about it.   Same thing happens in  Opera and Konq
