I believe that aceracpi handles your laptop model, Oscar.

It allows the use of WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, Brightness controls, etc. on
a subset of Acer (and other brand) laptops with either a AMW0 or WMID
interface. There are Ubuntu packages maintained for it now at
http://code.google.com/p/acer-acpi-deb/ as well.
