file hashes embedded and fcheck

I am starting to use the application fcheck to test system integrity and
in the MAN file the advanced scan recommends using the -s to "sign each
file with a CRC/hash signature".

I've not studied how the ELF headers work exactly, but can doing this
muck up the executable or effect anything with the original files, like
doing comparisons for installation integrity against the DEB databases
in apt/synaptic/etc? Are there problems I could run into doing that?
