Installing KDE and Removing Ubuntu (Don't want Kubuntu)

Indeed - but that's _still_ all part of kubuntu. Kubuntu IS KDE. And if
all th OP is concerned with is the lack of some features in the default,
he's still just as well off to install kubuntu from disc, then install
whatever else he wants from the repositories.
As for being up-to-date, that's an issue for _every_ distro, but kubuntu is
usually pretty good.
