Yesterday I went to my mother's, and to my surprise I found out she had
upgraded from fesity, all by herself. This is much of a surprise, because
she's a computer illiteracy, and can't read a line of English (this is
relevant because even though the brazillian translation is very good and
comprehensive, it's never 100% complete). She only got worried about
(probably) some debconf questions about keeping/subsituting some /etc/ config
files. Nevertheless, she said she just accepted the suggestions and got it
all working.
So, if you or anyone else is waiting for a thumbs up for the upgrade, I can
confirm a non-tech person, using a fairly basic use - some basic OO writer
skills, firefox with flash, the whole codec suite and the most common
non-free apps (google's, skype and ies4linux) - on a modern laptop (LeNovo
3000 V100) Just Works®, as advertised and as expected.
She's now more than happy as a kid with the 3D effects. Many thanks to all
that made it possible.
regards
FF
