There _is an automatic notification, when you have Feisty installed and
start update-manager. You will see a button "Upgrade to new release" or
some such. IMHO, not showing an icon in the notification areas makes
sense, there is no need to pressure people into an upgrade who have no
interest. IMHO it should just show an icon when the security update
support of the currently installed release is about to end (but I don't
know if it does this)
