I'll repeat: follow the instructions in:
http://www.8daysaweek.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=759

1. Remove all the packages from the installed version
Go to Synaptic or your package manager and mark all the openoffice.org2
packages installed to be removed. This is mandatory for your first
upgrade of the distro delivered OOo version, no need to to that for the
next upgrades.
For Ubuntu, the system will also remove the ubuntu-desktop package. No
worry, this is a meta package that can be removed safely. But in case
you want to upgrade your whole distro, you'll have to install back this
package (and the OOo original version).

Follow the instructions and all will get installed just fine. Post back
if you still can't get it to install after following the instructions.
That said, you might want to just upgrade to Gutsy; Gutsy already has
2.3 and many of the bugs that were in Unbuntu OOo 2.2 are fixed in
Ubuntu OOo 2.3.
