A) it's not easier, and I will never recommend gui tools on a text-only mail
list.  I gave him a working command, you left him hanging at "Synaptic".

B) you didn't help him any more than I did, since neither of us has told him
how to actually enable multiverse.

As I said - not easily.  imo, there are no good, simple, firewall
administration programs.  The few that are relatively easy to use are
incapable of handling systems (commonly laptops) where there are two or
more possible interfaces that will connect to the Internet.  I'd be happy
to be proved wrong, but imo the best so far was Guarddog, but it just
didn't keep up and I was writing too many custom rules.
