help with dsl speed

Not sure where you're located exactly, but you can try different hosts here:

Try closest to you & see if they vary much. I've found that my ISP
(AT&T) will drop the speed on my line if they get too much SNR's. In
order to get it back to it's proper speed I have to drop the IP and have
them issue a new one (turn modem off or kill the IP at the router).
