This is a rather complicated setup - which I have done before.

The idea is to download all email and store it in your local mailbox.
Then run a local IMAP server to serve this mailbox to your email
clients. This does work, but can be rather error prone to setup.

This way, the email clients don't have to keep in sync with each
other. Rather, the IMAP server tracks all changes instead.
