Strange /etc/fstab entries

Others have told you it is the UUID.  But they didn't explain.  Universal
Unique IDentifier (UUID).  (Or maybe Universally)

Anyway, if it were not so long, it wouldn't be guaranteed unique.

This approach is supposed to make things easier, so if you switch your hard
drives around, they still are identified correctly.  Otherwise fixing
everything when /dev/sdc becomes /dev/sdd is a nightmare.
