bash / number pad problem

I am hoping someone will know how to solve my problem. One of my users
is unable to use the number pad on her keyboard she gets letters instead
of numbers.This is when she logs in on a text session (Not x windows)
All other users have no problems with the number pad. The same user when
I open a terminal in X Windows for her, her number pad works fine. I
think she has to somehow have altered her bash environment variables to
cause this but I have no idea how she did it, or how to fix it. I tried
rebooting but whatever she did is permanent!
