You keep a stable release and a bleeding edge release - you can then boot
between them if you have a need. Consider I'm writing software and want to
test it under Breezy, Hoary, Fiesty, Gutsy, etc... I could of course keep
overwriting an installation each time I need to test my code but that would
be, as you so eloquently put it, "super crap"!
