Boot screen: Quiet or not?

I have no time for this, and no need to further clutter the mailing
list. It leads nowhere, and we should all go back to helping others. In
my perception it was not I who was or is bitching, but those people who
loudly complained about the "missing" information or demanded a
"missing" preference. I just argued, probably a bit to harshly, that
current boot screen situation is fine, if not perfect.
About users: today, a user in my location deleted a large number of
"useless" *.exe and *.dll files from C:\Windows and C:\Program Files
when "cleaning out" her computer, then bitched at the helpdesk guy
because he didn't fix it fast enough. This really happened, today, I did
not cull it from [1] or anything.
