Derek, you are correct.
I suggested that 'xhost' be used - but with the explicit warning that
it *is* insecure and just a quick hack.
I think that this thread has determined that 'gksudo' or 'gksu' is the
best way to accomplish this task. It's even easier than using 'xhost'
:-)
