Thunderbird fails to start at first attempt

If you turn off these addons does Thunderbird start first time?

Since an ubuntu update last week, thunderbird does not launch anymore

Not without a little more information. Anything in the syslog when you fire
up Thunderbird. Have you attempted to start the program via strace to see
where it's hanging?
