Boot screen: Quiet or not?

I think that has been the default in hardy?
I deactivate usplash once for all because *I* want to know what´s going on
during boot and currently one can´t have both it seems.
Personally i would prefer the SuSe bootscreen you get with 'ESC' as discribed
above.
...or at last a chance to switch (permanetly) to this kind of boottheme.
But as i can´t have that i deactivate usplash asap in a new system.
To know which services run successfully and which don´t is _important_ to
know imho.
I allways hated Win for that - leaving the user in the dark about what´s
going on.
