Bad traffic rates to de.archiives.ubuntu.com

I noticed that de.archives is the same machine as archives.

But what is worse (especially short before release of gutsy) is the transfer
rate I see. Mostly between 10 to 40 KB/sec and by this a download of one of
the dvd images will last more than 24 hours. For those who have adsl here in
germany and who will download per http and not per ftp this is longer than a
line is connected. So it woul be good to point on the ftp download instead of
http download and to have a short README.ftp which explains how to continue a
ftp download session.

This might bring a lot of problems when gutsy is released...

What is a bit irritating to me is the output of traceroute:
 traceroute de.cdimage.ubuntu.com
 traceroute to de.cdimage.ubuntu.com (91.189.88.34), 30 hops max, 40 byte
 packets
  1 beryllium.canonical.com (91.189.88.34) 83.010 ms 84.629 ms 85.820 ms

A traceroute to ubuntu.com shows
AFAIR traceroute's behavior beryllium.canonical.com is only one hop away.
Or am I wrong here?

Anyone else who has such poor download rates from Germany?

regards,
thomas
