Just did the same in Feisty and it appears that that 'junk' is the
proper output of hwinfo. So it seems that gnome-terminal 2.18.2 (the
gutsy version) may be the actual problem. I'll need to test more to see
if I can figure it out. hwinfo worked (and still does) just fine in
feisty on gnome-terminal 2.18.0.
