GNOME settings daemon crash ... so what now?

Hi List-

I reported this bug to launchpad, and there was some information and 
discussion about it.

The problem is that I still have the bug, and do not know what the cause 
is exactly, or how to work around it.  It makes GNOME unusable and I'd 
quite like to try it out since I've so far only used KDE.

Can anyone help?
