    Well, with you prompting me to search on "monitor" instead of "cpu" or
"load" like I was I found it!

ii  ksim           3.5.6-0ubuntu2 system information monitor for KDE

    Exactly what I was looking for.  To quote the puppy in Sinfest, "You sir,
