ubuntu text mode

It may say text based installer, but does it still install all the 
graphical files. I have seen that done when I use to use Mandriva and 
used the text installer, but it still installed all the graphical files 
that was not needed at all and I had to manually delete all those files 
and got fed up with it a just erased the entire drive..
