The next release of Java (7, I believE) will be based on the current
opensource development tree. Java5 and Java6 were not, and never will
be, open source (there's a lot of proprietary code developed by folks
other than Sun employees -- this is why Java 7 is taking so long, a lot
of stuff has to be recoded).
