Hi Derek

Go via 

System -> Administration -> Software Sources 

and check all the sources listed under ubuntu software. I am also using the 
main server as I find the Aussie server set as default on my system tends to 
lag behind somewhat. Then you should be asked to update the sources since 
they've changed. Go back into synaptic and do the search for them
