VirtualBox network connectivity

So doesn't WinXP start up or it starts, but the network is not reachable?

You can try WinXP Safe Modes (press F5 when Innotek logo shows up on
boot) to check whether you have "AMD PCNET" network interface available
in Control Panel|System|Device manager.
