One of the programs available here
_might_ assist in the identification of the motherboard.

Also, when computers are first booted a sequence of numbers and letters
appears in the lower left corner of the screen. These can be used to
identify the motherboard.

Some computers boot up with a "pretty" graphical screen. To see sequence
you might have to hit the Esc key shortly after starting the computer

Copy the sequence of numbers and letters into Google and do a search on
it. You might be able to identify the motherboard's manufacturer and
find out how much RAM the motherboard can support.
