It shows that the 950 chip set will go up to 2048x1536.
Looking at the specs on your system at newegg, the 945GC is the
North Bridge chipset.

Did you get your printer working? I had a similar problem with a samba
printer a little over a month ago. I could see the printer from the
windows XP box but it refused to print. I tried fixing it from the Linux
side but it did not work. Then I tried fixing it from the windows side.
First I tried reinstalling the smb printer it did not work. Then I set
it up as a cups printer instead of as a samba printer in windows. Here
is what I did that worked
Windows Client setup
* Click Start/Settings/Printers and Faxes.
* Click "Add a Printer".
* Click Next.
* Select "Add a network printer ..." and click the Next button.
* Select "Connect to a printer on the Internet..." and type in the
URL for the print queue. It will look like
http://server_IP:631/printers/PrinterName (the PrinterName is
the same from the localhost:631 entry of your printer). Then
click the Next button.
* In the next windows select your printer model. have driver
choose the one on CD English/Drivers/WindowsXP/1320.PS and
install.
* Click Finsh
I wondered if a Windows update broke the setup as I had not made any
changes recently to the Linux box. Anyway hope this helps if you haven't
solved your problem yourself by now.

What I'd suggest is that you write directly to the Ekiga list here:
ekiga-list at gnome.org
They'll certainly sort you out over there. I'm not sure if you need to
register to post but you can find that info on the Ekiga website.

Exactly, they dont really care , speaking about driver or hardware
problem... So we come back to my first question, if not hda-intel, which
sound driver or sound card I should have on my new laptop to be able to
use skype?
And what about OSS and skype, could it work ?

I forgot to write back to the list, but I fixed it... it turns out the
ekiga.net site lets you use pretty much anything as your password, but
the Ekiga client won't log in if your password is anything but letters
and numbers.

Hi,
Under ubuntu 7.04 I used emacs v21. I often need to write documents in
Dutch, French and English. So I very much appreciated the ability to
use
flyspell which worked fine.
I upgraded to 7.10 and installed exactly the same packages under 7.10
as
under 7.04 using the --get-selection/--set-selection option of dpkg.
7.10 installs the emacs v22 (gtk version). The spelling does only work
half: a 'ispell-buffer' command is correctly executed meaning I can
correct the spelling errors, but the on-line 'flyspell-mode' does work.
Since under 7.04 I used emacs v21 I installed this version. The
spelling
has the same problem, ispell-buffer works, but flyspell-mode does not
work.
I would very much appreciate the flyspell functionality again under
emacs v22 gtk on ubuntu 7.10.
Is there really no one else how suffered from this problem and found a
solution. I am getting desperate!

She is very happy and confident using Edubuntu and has been using Ubuntu
with me for quite some time. Most of her requirements are, indeed,
satisfied by Edubuntu, the Windows is a sort of safety net. You know the
sort of thing, a friend can do this why can't I, or some well meaning
person gives a disc which will not run on Linux.
I know what I will do, she will have Edubuntu only for now and, if the
need arises, I will add a small hdd to the machine and put windows on
that. Then, all eventualities will be catered for.

After many months trying to find a good answer for my problemes, with
alsa-driver, OSS, Skype, hda-intel, I decided to have a look at Fedora
8. Skype 1.4.118 is working perfectly, clear sound, and I can have
multiple calls with no mic problem or hda-intel problem, and this out of
the box.
Dont ask me why or how this can be (almost same kernel and alsa-driver
version) but instead of changing laptop, I changed OS.
Ubuntu will stay on all desktop servers, and I hope to be satisfied with
Fedora 8 on my Acer laptop.
