How to change gnome-terminal command line behavior from scrolling left mode to wrapping mode

nope  I did not modify anything anywhere. This is the behavior of the
Ubuntu 7.10 after installation.

I've tried this...  Did not make any difference

I've tried this too.    Nothing changed.

I even tried to change /etc/inputrc.  No effect.
