OT : Ubuntu - Skype - hda-intel problems

Hi,

I have a Laptop Acer 5050 (5053WXMi), which works perfectly on 7.10 and
before on 7.04. My only BIG problem is the sound driver hda-intel. This
makes Skype unusable , not because I have no sound with alsa, but
because of instability. I am able to have one conversation, sometimes
this stops working during the conversation. Hard reboot is mandatory.

I opened a bug, in alsa project
but I have now mo more answer.

The new skype 2.0 locked and crash after first call, a new bug has been
opened in SKype with not so much attention.

My question is : is Intel HDA driver really a bad choice ? If yes, which
kind of sound driver/computer will make my work easier ?

So if anybody has information about what kind of laptop and sound driver
I can use with less problem, I am quite open to hear suggestion. If
anybody had the same problems and find a solution, thanks to advise me.

PS : please don't tell me about Ekiga or Openwengo. I cannot ask my
partners to change as I am the only linux laptop, and I have all the
problems ;-). I must use skype because they are using it (on windows)
and are more than satisfied.
