It seems to be looking up DNS for ubuntu.gateway.2wire.net

If you do a 

locate ubuntu.gateway.2wire.net

does that show which file(s) contain that entry? I can't imagine why it
would be needed, and it appears to be bogus from the point of view of the
DNS:

$ host ubuntu.gateway.2wire.net
Host ubuntu.gateway.2wire.net not found: 3(NXDOMAIN)

$ host 2wire.net
2wire.net has address 216.52.29.100
