The vga= parameter on your kernel line, a framebuffer directive, is supposed
to control its initial value, but if you're using Feisty you may find it
broken due to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/129910 . Do man fbset and
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Framebuffer-HOWTO-5.html for more info.
