file encryption

If you want to encrypt single files, GPG will do it... to get a nice
frontend for GPG, install seahorse ( sudo aptitude install seahorse )
and go to Applications>Accessories>Passwords and Encryption Keys.
That'll add a new right-click action in your filemanager that'll let you
encrypt and digitally sign files.

If you want to encrypt your entire drive, Gutsy's Alternate CD allows
that as an option during the install process... but you probably have to
reinstall the whole thing then.
