Fwd: desktop cleaning

Dear sir,

I am using ubuntu for internet services in library, i need a command or a
script that  will  delete  all the files from the desktop except some files
like icons.




one amoung u suggested

ls -l |grep -v 1.c d | awk '{print $8}'|xargs rm



but actually i didnt know how to use this script and what is the meaning of
this script


i just want a command option to exclude some files when i am deleting all
files.
suggest any idea please....
