Since your laptop is still under warranty, you can probably call them 
for a replacement keyboard.  There was a thread about this on the 
mailing list of another linux distro about this time last year.  I 
remember that someone called Dell for a replacement, but I don't 
remember if they acknowledged the problem and if they sent the 
replacement.  Since this issue is widely spread for the c600 over the 
Internet, I hope they will do the exchange... Only thing to lose is the 
time on the phone with them ;)

When I fixed my c600, it wasn't under warranty anymore and the cost of 
the keyboard replacement from Dell wasn't the cheapest solution at all...
