yah i know how you feel, what i did was i installed vlc player (from the
repository by typing in the terminal "sudo apt-get install vlc"). Then i
went to ftp://ftp.videolan.org/pub/videolan/ubuntu/pool/libdvdcss and
downloaded libdvdcss (which is required to read dvd's).
And that was it, my dvd's started playing normally.
