Although Pidgin will probably not include vv functionality (vv = voice &
video) into Pidgin 3.0.0, there is a protocol called Jingle for GTalk/XMPP.
The Wikipedia page also shows a list of clients which are compatible with
it.

*Jingle* is an extension to the Jabber <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jabber>
/XMPP <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMPP> protocol, to allow for
peer-to-peer <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peer-to-peer> (p2p) signalling
for multimedia <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multimedia> interactions such
as voice <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_over_IP> or
video<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Videoconferencing>.
It was designed by Google <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google> and the XMPP
Standards Foundation<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMPP_Standards_Foundation>
.
