openoffice hangs on start up

hi,

i'm using ubuntu 7.10 with gnome and trying to open openoffice presentation,
but it hangs only displaying the splash image. i can run openoffice write
and spreadsheet, but the openoffice presentation hangs right after
displaying its splash image. (openoffice version is 2.3)

it would be greatly appreciated if anyone could give me a help.
