How to explicitly drop dynamic network connection in favor of static one?

Adam,

I have similar problems: when I put my computer in standby and I restart it,
the
ppp connection is not restored. Sometimes, it drops also when the computer
is
up and running normally. All the more, there seems to be no diagnostic tool
that
can tell us what is happening.
Unfortunately, thaty occurs with Ubuntu, and not with Vista. I do not like
to work
with Vista because it has a lot of deficiencies ... except fot networking!
