I assume you have never had to talk someone through setting up menus on
blackbox/fluxbox etc on IRC  ;-)

Debian menus used to be very useful for some window managers - I don't
know how well Ubuntu handles this case now, since I compile my own Fluxbox
and set up the menus myself.

Of course, GNOME and KDE are completely unnecessary evils ;-P
